How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much better because through these cash transfer, my son had a successful operation since he was diagnosis with Exostosis distal femur on the right leg from Kumi Orthopaedic Center. Before these transfers, I could not afford to raise even a half of the money the doctor needed.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by giving me the transfer which has enabled my son have successful operation. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I rented farm land, paid labour for planting and weeding, stocked produce ( 6 bags of g-nuts ), paid school fees, bought 5 hens and gave a gift.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My house has changed having purchased a new mattress, bed, a table set, and utensils. The house now is really looking beautiful. Being able to foot my child's medical bill is yet another thing that I wouldn't have managed to do if it was not for GiveDirectly transfers. Prior to receiving the cash transfers the termites used to bite me because I laid the mat directly on the floor. I did not have any chair or table in my house and I had few utensils .
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I got surprised because I never thought such a thing would happen. I was filled with excitement and felt relieved from so many pressing needs. My God is so good.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying a mattress, a bed, bed sheets, cement, utensils, a table set and chairs. I paid a debt of UGX 300,000 and I have put a side UGX 400,000 for treatment of my child who is supposed to under go operation.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building a Permanent house thatbis free from termite infestation. The one I stay in now is leaking because it has been eaten by termites which makes it costly for us to renovate almost every year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy in the morning around 6:00am when I have woken up healthy. It makes me energized ready to go out and do my daily duties normally.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Paying school fees for my children I one of my biggest challenge. My children are often chased out of school due to non payment of school fees which affects their performance at school.
