Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to aim higher and get to my goal of replacing my grassed thatched roof into an iron sheet one. This means I intend to be discipline with the finances I get from GiveDirectly through buying the required building materials on a monthly basis.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Previously, I have been living in a one-room house that served as a kitchen, living, and bedroom to my family. Today, I have a different story to tell because the biggest difference in my daily life for the last four months is that I have successfully built a kitchen that I have ever dreamt of. This has been enhanced by buying building materials which included iron sheets, nails, timber and paid laborers to build it using the transfers that were sent . Thanks to GiveDirectly because the kitchen serves as a bedroom for my children at night and a cooking place as well.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I shall have fixed an iron sheet roof and replace the grassed that one by buying building materials every month with the sent transfer.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
currently, I do not have to rely so much on my business profits to provide for my family. With the transfers, I can do monthly food shopping to last us through the month and then commit my other savings to other projects. l am also sitting on very expensive seats that l did not know l could have my whole life. Today, my house is very presentable unlike before when I had stools that my children would rearrange when playing around the house.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to save as much as possible for my children's education since I expect to settle arrears for next year's first term academic year. Then, I expect a lot of emotional peace having enough money to pay school fees for my children through the savings that I am planning to start making for the transfers. This will give me time to focus my time on other projects for my household development.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life for the last four months is paying school fees for my five children who now get to stay in school and study. I used to work so hard to raise their school fees but now I pay the fees using the transfers on time after combining with part of my income from my small business. I am glad the major part of their arrears is settled and they are rarely sent home and all compliments I give to GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
For the next six months, I intend to ensure I pay school fees for my children. I would not want my children to be sent home every now and again since from the past experience their performance was negatively affected due to absenteeism. I feel it is important as their parent to give them the best as they take maximum time in school.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was in that, I easily take care of my needs. For instance, I managed to lease land. I intend to plant a few crops and I believe that the harvest will be more compared to what I have been getting from my piece of land. This will be able to sustain my family for a long time before I start buying food from the local markets. Financial freedom has greatly changed my living standards and I feel relieved and stress-free unlike before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to cement my house. I normally feel embarrassed when I get impromptu visitors. It is usually worse when It has been long since I repaired the floor and the walls, which normally develop cracks all over after a period of time. I know that once I have cemented all the walls and the floor it will give me an easy time to clean and maintain it. I will finally rest from the hard work of smearing it every now and then.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I was able to plan and easily meet my goals. Recently I managed to buy a bull. As a farmer, this is one of the biggest assets I have ever wished to own. It will help me to easily work on my farm. Since predicting weather patterns is difficult in this era I can use the bulls to plough other people land and earn money instead of solely depending on selling my farm produce. It is usually difficult to survive especially when the harvest is low. I am grateful to be one of the beneficiaries because the money helps me to overcome some of these challenges. It gives me a second plan of how to go about some situations.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have saved some amount for my child who will be joining class eight next year. I do not want to be overwhelmed by the burden of paying school fees come next year. My goal of cementing my house will have been accomplished therefore my house will be looking decent. This means that I will be having enough time to do other duties and less use of money since cemented houses do not need to be repaired more often.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am free from worries and stresses on how to raise school fee for my son. Like any other member of the community, we walk in smart clothes and not rags as before. We can manage breakfast, lunch and supper and never go begging for the remnants. I have self-esteem and human dignity and can socialize without fear.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I would like buy some chairs in the next four months. We usually sit on the floor as we lack any. When visitors come, it forces me to beg from neighbors who later gossip and call names that are unpleasant.

On the last four months, I have been able to pay school fees for my son without any worriers. I am no longer the community beggar that was known for knocking every door requesting for assistance whenever my was sent home for school fees. We walk in smart clothes and not rags as it was before when we could not afford even second hand clothes. We eat well with surety of breakfast, lunch and supper. Thanks for GiveDirectly transfers that have given is hope for a better life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would like to organize on how to pay dowry so that my marriage can be customarily recognized. In our community, before dowry is fully settled, the marriage is deemed illegal. My husband lacks proper income to raise money to buy some cattle as dictated by our culture and tradition. I love my marriage so much and therefore would try to save so that in the next six month, the marriage can be legalized.
