How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am a fisher man. I have never owned a canoe before. I have been helper on a friend of mine canoe for years. Fish was not dying anymore. Things started to get difficult for my family.. I could not afford my children tuition the past school year. If not for GiveDirectly's cash program, my children wouldn't have gone to school this year. I was so happy when I received my transfer. Now I can happily boast of my children being in a better school. Our future will be better than now. I'm grateful.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly is doing nothing unwell. It's cash program is a golden opportunity. I am grateful for this. This program is improving our lives. We are so grateful for it. GiveDirectly gives us unconditional cash and ask for nothing in return. We are so happy for this opportunity.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been struggling to cater to my family needs. I am a helper on a friends canoe. For some time now fish was not dying. Things started to get difficult. I could hardly afford or basic needs. My children had dropped from school. I was excited when I got enrolled. I was so happy whem I received my transfer. I used some of my money to buy zinc to build a new house for my family and myself. Our house is not in a good condition. I also Paid my children tuition and saved the balance to add up to buy a canoe of my own.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was fishing on the sea when received my transfer. I immediately came on shore and went home. When I check my account and saw the amount of money that I suffered long time but couldn't get I was very excited. I have been fishing to send my children to school and build my house. There was no means for me due to lack of money. This transfer from GiveDirectly is a great help for I and my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is positive changes. Things that I'm having now is because of GiveDirectly. Many thanks and appreciation to GiveDirectly for making me who I am today.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
On many occasions my wife and I have planned to buy zinc and other materials for our house but we have not been able to implement those plans. The money we generate from fish sale is not much to save for a long term plan. Currently our house is leaking and part of it has started breaking apart. If we are blessed to receive money from Give Directly, I will use some to build my house, buy fishing nets and send my kids to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Today is the happiest day for me since this year. I am happy because Give Directly has started changing lives in my surrounding towns and villages so I believe with your presence, things will get better with me and my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenges I face are the condition of my house and my nets. If my net is in good condition, I can be able to generate funds through fishing to take care of some needs of my family.
