How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
When I received this money I had planned to build a house because I didn't have a decent house. The house I had was so small and grass thatched and I have managed to build a decent house now with the money I received from GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by improving our lives. I did not have a decent house but now I have managed to build a decent house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used most of recent transfers to build a house. I had bought bricks and iron sheets for building my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Recieving this money will mean so much improvement for my life and my family. Look, rainy season is upon us, I will be able to buy fertilizer this season. This means that I stand a chance at having a great yield. Next year I will not be hungry again. After we sell some bags of maize, me and my husband will keep some for myself and my children. On top of farming, we will be able to buy the things that we lack like a matress, chairs and beddings. I will take care of my home and my children will be comfortable. Me and my husband have a hard time feeding our children properly. Poverty has really depressed us but this money really beams hope to our village.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was happy in the past 6 momths when the Prosper Aid program reached me. I am now in line to recieve a goat. My plan is to grow the goat, mate it with other goats, then as it breeds more goats i will get into goat selling business in order to support my home. I have also been very happy going to cultural initiation ceremonies here in our village in the past few months. We have also had wedding celebrations withing the village. These things can be very exciting for us!
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am HIV positive and adequate nutrition is something that I always suffer with. We cannot afford food sometimes, that leaves me hungry and sick. My children have also been going hungry these days. It is sad to see but there is not much that me or my husband can do, sometimes he has to go to the Monkeybay area to do some fishing labour as here in our village some days business fails completely. Another challenge is that we rely so much on farming. This year we had lost hope because we know for sure that we cannot afford fertilizer and money to fix our hoes and slashers. If we recieve this money, so much worry will be offloaded from us.
