Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Previously, I was sleeping in a grass thatched hut that leaked whenever it rained but after receiving my first transfer, I was able to break down my old house and its bricks are being used for starting with the construction of an iron roofed house. I currently sleep in my son's kitchen because my house is under construction. I expect the house to be completed with second transfer and I will shift in it immediately.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My spouse followed me at the farm where I had to dig to aske whether I had received my money. I was forced to return home to cross check with my phone and I got the message notifying me that I had received money from GiveDirectly, I became very happy because I was expecting this money for buying construction materials to start up with the construction .
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Before receiving this transfer, I was sleeping in a grass thatched hut that leaked whenever it rained. So when I received my money I acquired 6 pieces of iron sheets, a door, 2 windows, 2 bags of cement and paid construction workers who are currently building for me an iron roofed house. Further more, I bought utensils, clothes, a blanket and foodstuffs. I have not yet spent UGX 650,000 but I intend to spend it to add construction materials and paying labour.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will build a permanent house for myself. This will improve on my living conditions. The house I stay in currently leaks at night when it rains which makes it me to stand during the the when it is raining.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at 2:00pm. That is because I find it difficult to find food and when I have eaten, I feel happy. I will be reluxing with my son, we tell stories on how the day went.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of proper accommodation. The house I sleep in is grass thatched and leaks when it rains. I cover it with a polythene bag but when I am not at home, all my bedding becomes wet.
