Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I knew that the things I had planned were finally going to be realized. I for once knew and it dawned to me that the assistance was a reality. It was around 5:40 pm when we received the money and I was at home. I saw a message from segovia technology and the first person that I informed was one of my neighbours going to borrow money from my neighbour and it was just interesting.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the house that I was able to bring it to completion. I would not be able to do all these since everytime I got money it would be used to pay school fees
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 17000 to pay school fees for my son and used another KES 26000 to buy a heifer and used another KES 5300 to fix window panes and the remaining amount was used to buy paints and utensils for our household. I made a decision to buy a heifer since I had sold all the livestock that I had to pay school fees for my children. I am a mother of 3 and a single mother for that matter who relies on little income from my teaching job to meet my needs and that of my family

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Raising 3 children singlehandedly requires a lot of finances, especially for their education. I have been paying my children's school fees through the teaching job since 2014 but unfortunately, the KES 13000 I earn in a month does not cater exhaustively for this therefore I have been substituting through the sale of my cows. Recently, I sold a cow to clear a fee for my son in grade 11 and I have been yearning to replace it but finances have been a pain point. When I receive these transfers, I intend to use KES 35000 to purchase a dairy cow to reproduce in number. I will be glad that my children's education will be secured so I can sell when my finances are down.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was delighted when the cow that I bought in September 2021 calved in April 2022. As per my expectation, I have been a milk supplier to vendors in the village hence I have been earning an extra source of income aside from my teaching job. Alternatively, my son in grade 12 has had a smooth education since I have been paying his fees on time .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Raising school fees for my 3 children singlehandedly is a challenge I am currently facing. I am an ECDE teacher and I earn KEs 13000 a month to support the basic needs such as food and education for my children. It pains me that I had to halt some important projects for instance house construction to facilitate my children's education. Furthermore, my cows have reduced in number since I have been selling them to cater for this course.
