How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life was very difficult in the past in that I had no access to financial assistance to enable us construct a permanent house. More so, when the children became ill. I had to borrow from the village savings groups so as to acquire medical care. However,I am very grateful that the cash transfers have enabled us acquire better medical care for the family. We have also boosted our fish business which earns daily income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well to empower the poor with the cash transfers. The most important aspect is that they entrusted us to spend the cash transfer freely without any conditions. To a greater extent, GiveDirectly has done so well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of the second cash transfer to purchase a second hand motorcycle and part of it was spent to purchase stock for the fish business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. I have always longed to raise one but I never had the chance to do so.
In case of any balance, I hope to buy a bull that can support in the farming activity.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I am listening to gospel music especially after I have had lunch.
It relieves me of some thoughts.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. I have only every small portion of land to cultivate and as such, I am not able to produce enough food that can sustain my family.
This in most cases has resulted in food shortage.
It is also common for me and my husband to do casual labour so as to earn some money that can support in providing for the family.
