How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been because I sleep under an iron sheet roofed house relieving me from the burden of looking for roofing grass every year to replenish the old. In addition, I am happy to have acquired household items. All these were not things that would come in my life without GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving me money that has enabled to build iron sheet roofed house, acquire household items and feeding. In addition, it's very transparent in the way they carry out their work. I don't see anything it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
That second transfer was used to buy household items like a bed, a mattress, bed-sheets, clothes, and utensils. Paid school fees for children, and the balance, I spent on feeding.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I feel so happy nowadays because I have managed to construct a Iron roofed house in my disability condition. I did not have any avenues of getting money to facilitate the construction of a iron roofed house. This transfer came as a blessing to me because I have built a spacious and strong enough house. Prior to getting this transfer, I struggled a lot looking for grass to thatch the house whenever it needed renovation. I kept on falling in the bush while cutting and transporting this thatch since I move with the support of a clutch. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to GiveDirectly for rescuing me from the bad conditions I dwelt in a very long period of time. The house is ramshackle and could soon collapse on us.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I heard my phone vibrate, I listened to last vibration and I told my daughter in P.5 to check my phone since I'm not learnt. On seeing the message it was GD cash transfer, I became so happy and I ululated in joy because I knew my suffering had come to an end.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to construct a new iron roofed house because the one I'm currently occupying is about to collapse.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land, complete the construction of my house and buy beddings. I have been suffering for so long sleeping in a house that leeks, eating insurfficiently because I don't have enough land for cultivation. This money will support me better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when my grand children are playing. Some times I join them in their games and this relaxes my mind.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land. While my husband was alive, he sold the biggest part of the land that we had and now I am left with only one garden that is not enough to support me well. I do casual labour most of the time just to try to find something that can suppliment the little that I harvest in order to survive.
