How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different than how it would have been becasue I have livestock which includes, an ox and goats. The ox will specifically be helping me with my farming activities and since they work, in pair, I will combine with that of my friends and operate in shifts. This assures me of harvesting lit, unlike the previous seasons whereby I would get poor yields simply becasue I was doing the excess using my own hand which was tiresome. Also, I am now a happy soul fatter managing to seek medication attention and am now resticverying courtesy of GiveDirectly. Also, I have sufficient food in my house and my children can now take three I ask a day unlike before which was not possible.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in various ways, especially in my village. Every one of us was given the chance to select the projects or items he would wish to purchase according to his desire. This made us even happier since there were no restrictions provided the I utilize it appropriately. Since every household has different needs it was the feeling for Giveirectly offering us such an opportunity
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying livestock such as an ox and two goats 19k. I have been thinking of owning them for quite some time but could not afford them because they were too costly. I later cleared some medical bills since I have been unwell for months and I am glad I am well now. In addition to that, I cleared school fees for my son who is in secondary schools. With the remaining cash, I bought enough food for the family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the transfer message at around midday as I was relaxing from my days activities. I heard my phone ringing informing me of an incoming message. On checking, I had received my first transfer from GiveDirectly. I was instantly filled with unspeakable joy as I planned to withdraw it.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Owning a cow is the biggest difference in my daily life. I had none before the coming of GiveDirectly. I am depending on burning and selling charcoal as a source of income. This has been the only way to take care of my children's education. My plan is keep this cow which upon reproducing, the offspring can help in taking care of my children's education since they are still young. Besides, I will be getting milk to sell and also for my family's consumption.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my first transfer on building a new house. My previous house was in a very bad state. Its roof was dilapidated and leaking during rains. I thus purchased 24 pieces of iron sheets and building poles and other materials. I am glad to have a new decent house to live with my family. In addition to this. I also boight a heifer at KES 14000 that I am currently keeping in my homestaed. My aim is to keep it and reproduce and have many of them. I am assured of educating my children through the offspring. Lastly, I bought a new mattress to sleep on comfortably.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have desired to construct a spacious house for my family. Currently, I am living in a small, open-roofed house after the roof being blown away by the strong winds we experience 2 months ago. Being a rainy season I have been spending sleepless nights due to the terrible conditions of my house. I am planning to spend $ 350 to build a two-roomed iron-roofed house and to purchase beddings. This will restore my happiness in life. The remaining amount will assist me in starting a cattle rearing which will be my reliable source of income for the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Afternoon is the happiest part of my day. My mornings are the busy part of my day working on my farm up to the afternoon when I return home to eat lunch with my family members. It's also at this time that I rest my body from my morning work.we always chat with my family members under a shade something that makes me laugh a lot.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Imagine sleeping under an open-roofed house for during the heavy downpours. This has been my way of life after the roof of my house was blown by strong winds 2 months ago. I have wished to build a new house but I have not fulfilled this desire due to financial challenge. Thus, I consider lack of adequate finances as my biggest hardship.
