How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Standing in front of my decent timber walled house is a life changer because my family is able to stay in a clean environment. I have also saved up money which I used to incur in maintaining my previous mud house after every three months to provide basic needs for my family . I feel that I fit in my society since I own a house like theirs .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well by providing better homes for the homeless and those with poor ones . Today , my village looks clean and all the grassed thatched house have been replaced with iron sheet ones .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my entire second transfer on buying building materials such as timbers and paid laborers to complete the construction of my new decent timber walled house . At the moment, I feel blessed with this house because I have always longed for over the years to have it but unfortunately what had deterred me in achieving this dream was cause by financial contains .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to acquire materials to use in building a decent house for my family. Even though I have not started building it, I believe that I will have completed building it in the next two months. This will allow us to enjoy the comfort of living in a dust-free house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I read the message notification indicating that I had received money from GiveDirectly, my heart was filled with much joy. At that moment, I knew that indeed GiveDirectly honors their promise, unlike other organizations who have visited us before with empty promises.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer to buy some building materials which majorly included timber, iron sheets and nails to use in building a house for my family. We have been living in a mud house and the cost of renovating it would have been costly compared to building a new one. I still have some amount which I will use to pay a mason for this work.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will help me build a house. The house I live in is made of mud and maintaining it is very hard.It is also small and having a bigger house made of wood and cemented has always been my desire. The little that will remain from the transfers will help me start a small business of hawking clothes.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The first duty I do in the morning is milking the cows.I prepare my child to go to school then do house chores till mid morning.I then graze my cattle in the nearby forest then come back during lunch hour.I do some washing in the afternoon then go to the nearby shopping centre in the evening to buy supper to cook for my family.Afternoon is the happiest part of my day since I spend time around my compound listening to the radio.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I completed college and have a certificate in Early Childhood Development Education(ECDE) but it has not helped me well since I have not been formally employment.Unemployment therefore is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life. Its been 7 years now since my graduation and I do not see any hope of employment soon since the market is flooded.I now practise subsistence farming and livestock farming in our small piece of land which is less than an acre. This is not enough to support my family.
