I plan to build my own house, I plan to buy mattress, I plan to pay my children school and I also plan to buy some school materials for my children.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Our plans and goal that we intended to achieve prior to Givedirect present in our town was to build a house to avoid living in cluster households with family members and every day there is conflict

When Givedirect came to our town,we all believe that they were lying to us, because to give people such an amount that they talk about was a serious doubts on our minds, not until when we started seeing money coming, brought us to the understanding that Givedirect is extremely doing pretty good in the humanitarian assistance

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My name is Fatu Sonnie from Kpagbola Town, Dowein District Bomi County, Liberia.
I was so happy upon receiving my first cash transfer from Give Directly because I was so worried on my children school fees payment.
For the past years my husband and I had been involve in the production of Charcoal with no income to support my kids in school.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Since I started receiving my cash transfer, my family and I are more relaxed in the production of charcoal and other farm work.
Most importantly, my children are going to school in good health.

My current cash received was use to pay my children school fees and I save the rest from my first cash transfer to renovate my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I'm qualified to received Give Directly transfer, I plan to build my own house and put the remaining in dry goods business. Right now the house we are living in is my husband brother's house and we were just given a room to stay, It has always been our dream to build our own house that our children will get assess to their own room; but because of the little income we get from subsistence farming, we have not been able to fulfill our dream. When I'm able to get into this business it will also help us to sponsor our children in school continuously because none of our children had been opportune to sit in class since their birth.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What has brought Joy to me in the last six months is doing the covid-19 pandemic when the government give us two bags of 25kg rice, two gallon of oil and two bucket of beans. I was very happy because at that time we had no means of survival and/or get our daily bread. It was very difficult and at times we will have to go whole day with out food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we faced right now is money to built our own house and sent our children to school. Besides the small cassava farm we are depending on, it has been very difficult for us to meet our daily needs such as food, shelter and clothing, and also our inability to providing our household daily needs. Our only source of income is the cassava patch we have, after the cassava production we have to take it to the market for sell, and now in Liberia doing this rainy season buying is very difficult. sometimes when we take three bags of cassava to the market we will have to stay the whole day and only a bag will be bought and we will have to transport the remaining ones back to the village.
