How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved now, I own livestock and I expect to begin taking milk soon. I hope to shift to sleep in an iron roofed house once I am done with the construction process. Previously , I had no cows of my own. Around this time of the year, I would be stressed on how to find grass thatch to renovate the hut but his is no more.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me unconditional cash that enabled me to construct a house and buy livestock. They did well to deliver all the promised money to us without defrauding any one. There is nothing wrong GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for constructing an iron roofed house. I decided to build because grass has become scarse yet a hut needs thatch replacement yearly.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before receiving the cash transfers, I had no livestock at all. I had nothing to my name. However, when I received the cash transfer, I had to purchase livestock that will act as a form of security for the future responsibilities and emergencies. I feel relieved that my future plans of constructing a house will come to pass when I receive the second cash transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up by the buzzing of my phone at around 03:00am. I knew in my heart that this was a message from GiveDirectly because it was a rare feeling. When I read the message and confirmed with my account, I felt extremely overjoyed because this cash transfer was going to transform my life being a sickly person.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent all my first cash transfer to purchase three livestock worth UGX 1700000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house and buy Some cows so that I can have milk. This will make me healthier.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I know I have been able to handdle my tasks of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. The piece of land that I have is too small to support food production but I am not able to buy more that can supplement what I have. As a result, I am always face with a problem of food shortage.
