How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At the moment, I am a proud owner of a dairy cow. Due to this, I no longer buy milk on a daily basis rather, I earn an income through the sale of milk to my neighbors. Had it not have been for the transfers, I would not have been able to buy this dairy cow.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly did well by honoring their promise and treating everyone equally.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent a good amount to pay school fees for my son in college. Also, I decided to furnish my newly built house to make it more presentable. I painted its both the inside and outside walls. On the remaining amount, I bought four sets of seats since I did not have any.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is owning a dairy heifer. It is going to benefit me for a long time. At least I will now take a break from doing the hectic casual jobs. Apart from that, I am also glad that I have painted my house in the best colors that I have always wanted. I am planning to live in this home even in my old age and that is why it is important that I did the finishing and improvements. This will make it be presentable and last longer
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I could not stop myself from smiling when I got good news early in the morning. I prayed and thanked God for the help that I received then went back to sleep because it was still dark outside. I woke up very happy and took some good time in the days that followed on planning how to use the money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer on improving the appearance of my house. I needed to do some finishing by buying a ceiling board and seats., I also had to paint the inner walls and add some decor. I have a big house, therefore, doing all these at one was draining me financially. I later bought a solar lamp and a cow which will help me generating income after GiveDirectly have finished their project in this village. I finally bought some clothes and bedding. We now sleep better and look presentable

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I spent all my resources in educating my children.Three of them were in secondary school and two in college, but they have now completed.Their school fees was overwhelming such that I had to sell a portion of our land and all our livestock to raise their fees.Right now,we do not have any cow and therefore we have to buy milk, which adds to our expenditure.Receiving this money means that I will now be able to buy a cow so that we cut costs of buying milk
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. My entire day involves a lot of work on the farm which does not even allow me to rest. All this time am aware that it is through this work that my family is provided for.In the evening,I finally get a chance to rest and interract with the members of my family and this makes me very happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is raising school fees for our children. My spouse is old and we both do not have a means of earning an income. We fully depend on our small piece of land which does not even produce enough to feed us and an extra for sale.We have therefore been forced to sell some assets in order to ensure that our children go to school.
