How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I now have a dairy cow. Due to this, my income from dairy project has increased due to increase in milk production. This money has enabled me to meet our daily basic needs on time and with less struggle.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by giving us unconditional transfer that enabled us to prioritise on our goals and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I bought a dairy cow and its calf. I settled on this so that I will be using the income from dairy project to pay school fees for my children. I am now glad since I no longer buy milk daily but I earn income by selling them to my neighbors. I used the remaining amount to pay a mason who helped me in building a house

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am now a happy parent. This is because I am soon going to achieve my goal of building a decent kitchen for my family. I have some amount which I will use in buying some building materials to use for this work. Also, my children nowadays dress decently unlike before where they would be laughed at by other children in our village.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I became so happy when I received my transfers. I gave thanks to God and GiveDirectly as I knew that I would be able to achieve so many things using the money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, the first thing I did was to buy two sacks of maize flour to last my family till the next harvest season. Buying maize flour was my daily routine and it was always expensive. Buying it in bulk is cheaper and more affordable. In addition to this, I paid school fees for my daughter so that she would not be sent back home. This will allow her to concentrate on her studies as she is in her final year. I also bought a barbed wire to use in fencing my cow shed. This will make the collection of manure easy and time-saving. I am planning to use the remaining amount to buy some building material to use in building a kitchen for my family. My current kitchen is dilapidated and it always leaks especially during the rainy season making it difficult for one to stay in.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have a grass- thatched kitchen which is now very old.Whenever it rains, the roof leaks.I have always wanted to demolish it and build an iron-roofed one but I have never come by money enough to meet all our daily needs as well as buy building materials.Receiving this money therefore means that I will be able to build a better kitchen for my family. With the remaining amount,I will buy a heifer so that it will serve as a reminder that I once benefitted from GiveDirectly transfers.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time that I am done with my work for the day and I feel fulfilled. It is also at this time that my children return home fromschool.Throughout the day,am usually alone in the homestead and I feel so lonely. When they come back,we chat,I listen to their experiences for the and laugh and this makes me very happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have three children, all of them are girls. In our culture, male children are a pride and joy of their fathers. My husband has always pestered me about this. After my third child,I fell ill and when I visited several hospitals,I was told that I had a growth that made it impossible to carry another pregnancy. The various hospital visits cost my spouse and I a lot of money and we had to even sell our livestock to pay for treatment as well as paying for our children's school fees. This has left us in poverty. This is the biggest hardship I have faced
