How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I could have been a dead man by now, but I am a live because of GD. Cancer is a deadly disease and it's management requires a lot of resources which by then was limited.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has given us the equal chance to access the money resource unconditionally. People have used the transfer to address various economic issues, and economic transformation has been far realized. I am sure that, after sometimes, the impact of the program will be noticed. People have taken their children to school with ease, and education is a long term investment. some who were sick are now alive because of the program. The organization should have extended the program to a longer period for maximum benefit, unlike now where it's once and for all.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on medication. I was diagnosed with cancer and the money for special treatment was not available. I therefore decided to respond very fast for treatment using this transfer. I always attend clinic once in a month and thank GiveDirectly for the finance assistance that has enabled me to live now. It could have taken long time to mobilize relatives and friends for fundraising to facilitate my treatment.
