My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I managed to provide for my family without laboring for many long hours every day on tea farms. I have managed to spend my time on my own farm while attending to my son who is undergoing medication. I bought him some medication and as a result, his health has improved.

Currently, I don't have an additional goal. The only goal at the moment is to continue paying for my son's medication. I won't focus if I start any project because my son's health comes first. And I thank God for making me one of the beneficiaries in this organization. I don't think I would have made it on my own. I hope by the time the transfers will be over, my son will have fully recovered

The biggest in my daily life is that nowadays I am happy and hopeful. The fact that I managed to pay my son's medical expenses still appears like a miracle to date. He is epileptic and this used to stress me a lot. I used the transfers I received from Give Directly to pay for the herbal medicine that has really helped him. I feel good because he is responding well to medication. My biggest joy is that I was able to afford to pay for medication and he is improving healthwise

I expect to have completed repaying for treatment of my boy. It will give me the joy to see my son healed. My life is currently different from how it could have been before receiving the transfers. Nowadays I can afford most of the basic needs. I can always get the shop and take goods on credit without any fear of where I would get money to repay the loaned items. My neighbors also don't fear loaning me because they know I am capable of repaying since I get monthly transfers from Give Directly. I am planning to start investing this money so that I won't be borrowing for the rest of my life.

My new goal is to buy a heifer to add to the herd that I already have. In afew years, I hope they will have multiplied and I will remember they all came to be because Give Directly helped me buy the heifer that I couldn't have bought without their help.

The biggest difference in my life is that I now own a dairy cow. When we started receiving the transfer, I started saving some of this money in my Mshwari account. When I had enough savings, I bought a dairy cow. I used to be in charge of one cow although it belonged to someone else. I always feared the owner would come for it anytime. I am now proud to own one just like any other person in the village. I am no longer worried about not having a source of milk in case the owner of the other cow comes for it. I am still thankful for him because he made me saw the importance of the cow.

My expectation in the near future is to ensure that my son gets proper medication for his condition. He has not been getting full attention because of lack of resources. I have used a lot of money for a while now trying to treat him but in vain. I think it is because we have not been in a position to finish the prescribed medication due to lack of funds. My hope is to ensure that he gets the full dosage and pray that he gets well so that we can now invest our money to other income generating activities.

I used my initial GD's transfers to expand my tea plantation to attract more income from the sale of tea leaves. Accordingly, I have started reaping from the project following the increase in my monthly income. As a result, my family enjoys a higher standard of living because we can afford more food of higher quality. Moreover, I am currently spending much of my time doing my own activities including crop and tea farming as well as taking care of my cow. Hence, the time that I could otherwise spend doing casual works in my neighborhood has been converted to be used in my farm.

I do not have any new or additional goals for my life in the next four months because I expect to spend the transfers on contributing to the table banking group and use the remaining amount on buying food items including maize, milk, sugar, tea leaves and soap for my household. However, the new goal of building a better house will probably materialize after the next four months, especially when my turn of collecting the contributions of table banking comes in August this year.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have been happier and more hopeful that my dream of building a better house will materialize. After buying the only cow that we currently own using contributions from the table banking group that I joined, I have a feeling and strong belief that I will also manage to build a new house using the same approach with the help of GD transfers. Following the significant investment that I have done in my farm, I expect my life to change a lot in the next six. By that time (six months), I will have harvested the maize crops that I planted some months ago. Moreover, I anticipate more income from the sale of my tea since the new plants will have fully matured. Hence, I expect to enjoy a higher living standard because we shall have relatively enough money to meet most of our daily needs and demands. We borrow from our neighbors and take care of their livestock and there's nothing as satisfying as having things of your own. Once we have our own I will be more content. I am hopeful for a better life though.

The biggest difference in my life is that we can now access medical services when we need to. I used part of my transfer to pay for the national medical insurance. I have a child who has epilepsy and requires frequent medical attention. We at times would not have money for his medication but we can now afford medication without struggle. The medical cover caters for his medical needs. This is such a relief for me.
