How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that, I am now able to get my monthly transfers which I use to take care of my needs easily. Previously, it was tough because I was not getting the transfer and neither was I working. I could be stressed most of the time especially when my child fell ill. It was so devastating to see my child sick and feel helpless about the situation due to lack of money.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals are; to purchase a mattress, a bed, and hens. Currently, I sleep on a mat which is normally very uncomfortable. I also do not have an investment at the moment and I know that poultry farming will be the best to start with considering that it only requires little capital.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I managed to buy a suitcase. I had been desiring to buy it but because of financial constraints, I ended up using shopping bags. The shopping bags were weak and not safe. I am glad that my personal items and clothes are now safe.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to have started poultry farming. I know that this is a long term investment that will help me to take care of my needs easily and meet other goals also.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I now have enough money to easily take care of my needs. The most exciting part is that I can settle my emergencies without taking loans. I have been depending on my parents and hugely used to live on debts. It is so embarrassing to continue asking my parents for help at this age instead of now help them. I had also lost friends because I could stay with their debts for long without paying. I am glad that this is no longer the case. Today, when I am sick or if my child wants anything, I can easily take care of that situation.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to start a business. I do not have a stable job and the casual jobs are unreliable in our area. I want to have something that I will do so that I can take care of my child's needs easily. I need to start something that will generate income even after GiveDirectly have finished their project in this area. I am thinking of operating a shop. I think it is a good business because we only have one shop in this area, therefore, the market demand is also high which means the likelihood of it failing is very minimal.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, my life is different from how it was before Give Directly came into my life in that I am healthy and have peace of mind. Initially, I was always worried because I didn't have a reliable source of income to meet my daily needs. I do not have a job and getting casual jobs in our are is not easy but since I started receiving the transfers, I don't get worried much because I know that the monthly transfers will be sent at the end of the day. The transfer has really helped me in taking care of my child's needs and I feel happy being a responsible parent for the first time.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My new goal is to start rearing animals and do poultry farming. I plan to keep a few goat and sheep because they are the ones that I can afford to buy and maintain at the moment. I also plan to do poultry farming because they are in demand at the moment. Even though I don't have enough capital, I know with time It will grow big and become a great business. With these projects, I am certain of handling all my needs and accomplish all my goals with ease.
