How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, I have a new goal that I did not have before receiving my money from GD. I have wanted to improve my house so that it looks beautiful and is more comfortable to stay in. The house already has a nice roof and so I want to plaster the house. I have used the rest of my money for farming this way I have enough maize at the end of the year.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GD is doing well by sending cash transfers. The transfers has changed my village. Our village is now developed with nice houses. People have started business and w are now happier than we used to be. Everyone is able to buy food and other everyday needs. The is nothing I see GD not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have spent my recent transfer from GD to do my farming, where by I bought fertilizer so that I can farm and have enough food at the end of the year. I also used the money to send my son to SA so that he can try some businesses and look for jobs there . This is because he was not finding any business or job opportunities here in Malawi.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The cash transfers mean a lot to me. I am struggling to support my household. I am planning to buy some bags of cement so that my house can have concrete floor. I will also buy some bags of food and fertilizer which I will use in the next growing season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy during lunch hours when I am having lunch.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge is food. My harvest is not enough because I don't apply fertilizer.
