How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer. First, I would not have been able to build a spacious house for my family. Due to this, we would still be living in our small grass thatched house that could not accommodate us comfortably. Also, I would not have been able to expand my dairy farming project. Expanding this project is a financial security for me since I can easily sell the heifer whenever I am faced with financial crisis. Also, I will be using the income from this project to cater for my children's education.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did a good job in my village. They were so friendly and had no discrimination as they served everyone equally and diligently.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent a good amount to buy two dairy cows and a heifer. We settled on this as a family as a way of investing this money. I will be using the income from dairy farming to cater for my children's education. I used the remaining amount to buy food and other household necessities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have built a better and spacious house for my family. Before we used to live in one small house which could not host all my family comfortably. Whenever I had visitors it was so embarrassing because there was nowhere to sleep. I could take them to my neighbor's house to sleep. Currently, I no longer fear to welcome visitors to my home because I have a decent and spacious house. My children are also a good place to sleep they no longer spend nights at their grandmother's house. They could walk at night to their grandmother house which was so risky for them. They could not complete their assignment because of the movement at night. Currently, they are so happy the do their assignment in time and their performance has improved so much.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I remember very well that it was early in the morning when my neighbor called me to let me know that GiveDirectly had finally made fulfilled their promise of sending us money. I quickly hung up on him just to check and confirm whether I had received mine too. I could not believe my eyes when I checked and found out that I had received an amount of money that I had never received before. My spouse and children were also so happy knowing that we were finally going to be able to build a bigger and better house than the one we were staying in.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used part of my first transfer to build a better house for my family. We were staying in a very small house that was quite uncomfortable for us as a family and I always had this desire of building a better one. The little income that I got from the casual works that I engage in was hardly enough to meet the basic household needs and when I received this transfer, I saw it fit to build this house. I also used part of the transfer to buy clothes and utensils considering that the ones we had were too old. After all these, I still remained with a substantive amount of money that saw me buy a heifer. I am looking forward to the day that this heifer will reproduce and give us enough milk to feed the family as well as sell the surplus to meet other family expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build my family a better house. The hut we live in is very small and sometimes am even ashamed to have visitors in my home.I have always wanted to build an iron roofed house but money constraints have not allowed me.This is my chance and am so grateful
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. After breakfast,i leave home so I can begin my motorbike transport business. This makes me happy because I know that it is through this that I will be able to feed and clothe my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My piece of land often floods during heavy rains. As such,I cannot plant anything on it and this makes my family prone to hunger.Farming is the main economic activity in this area and without a place to farm, life is very difficult.I am therefore forced to put in extra effort in my motorbike taxi work so that we can have enough to eat as well as meet all the other needs that my household has. This is the biggest hardship I have faced
