How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Life used to be dark and hopeless for me. Poverty was the order of day, with school fee burdens staring at me. I had even requested one of my sons to defer his university education till further notice due to lack of funds. GiveDirectly's arrival in my homestead was timely. School fee for both my sons is now paid in full for a year. Life is now good and I cannot complain at all. I have peace of mind. I look better even physically; I am stronger and healthier than before. If GiveDirectly officers who enrolled us were to come back they would not recognize me (and most of us). I am stress-free and happy, thanks to GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
First, we are forever grateful for GiveDirectly. The organization did well in my opinion to send us the cash. I have not heard of such help all my life! It is unheard of. As a village we eat well, dress well, sleep well, live well and our needs met sufficiently because of GiveDirectly work. I do not see something that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer that GiveDirectly sent me to pay fee for my sons in university and secondary school. We also bought food because we needed it. We are grateful for the transfer. I have saved some cash too, which I plan to start a shop business.
