How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different because of the house that I managed to construct using the transfers. My previous house was in poor condition and I did not have money to buy the materials needed to construct a decent house. It was always stressed whenever it could rain I used to seek shelter from my relatives and neighbors. To add on that, before GD came into my life, I didn't have any livestock, I am now glad because I now own some goats. I am expecting them to reproduce and start a business of selling the offspring once they mature and generate an income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well in everything it chose do o in ur region. This is because every needy household and everyone was satisfied. Since the enrolment was free and fair, I did not hear any issues or complaints from the village. I do not see any sector GD failed us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying five goats at a total of KES 15000. These have been my well thoughtful assets for so long but I could not afford to purchase them because of the financial difficulties. I then bought some beddings such as a bed and mattress at KES 10000. This was to replace the traditional bed made of ropes that I have been using for all years. The remaining amount of money I used to buy some basic needs such as clothes, sufficient food, and some other household items.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before GiveDirectly came to us, I was sleeping on an old and worn-out mattress and a traditional bed which I had not been able to replace over some years due to financial constraints. However, I am now happy that when I received the first transfer, I managed to replace them by purchasing a new wooden bed and a mattress. I am now sleeping comfortably unlike before when I was using the old beddings.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up by a message alert on my phone early in the morning. Since I couldn't comprehend the contents of the message, I had to wait for my helper at daybreak, who later on notified me of the good news that I had finally received my first transfer from GiveDirectly. I was filled with happiness and I celebrated with my family for this fortune.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 9000 of my first transfer on purchasing three goats which I am currently rearing in my homestead. I did not have any and my desire was to at least own some. Through this transfer, I acquired the three goats, which are assets that I can readily depend on in case of a financial hardship. I have also been sleeping on an old mattress and a traditional bed which was not really comfortable for me. Though my desire was to one day change them. When I received my first transfer, I bought a new wooden bed at KES 7500 and also bought a mattress at KES 3000, to replace the old beddings that I was using. Lastly, I am spending the remaining amount to cater for my household basic needs such as foodstuffs for my family and paying for other household expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a housewife and a total dependant on my husband who is doing casual work. My desire has been to start rearing livestock in order to supplement his income and this makes me wish to own goats. When I receive my transfers I will be able to purchase them and this will help me to cater for any family issues whenever they arise. I am also planning to educate my two children who are in primary school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is the happiest part of my day because I usually get enough time to relax. Unlike in the morning and afternoon hours where am always in the bush doing my charcoal burning work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of a reliable source of income to fulfill my desire has been my biggest challenge. This has forced me to engage in charcoal burning activity in order to support my husband's income from his water vending job. This venture does not earn me much and considering the nature of this activity being tiresome, it makes me so weak.
