How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has greatly changed by the fact that I own livestock such as sheep and a cow that will be my investment, keep me busy in terms of grazing them and source of pride in my community since it is the case in the setting of my home land. In the past, I was a nobody in the area without that livestock. I could keep around home with almost nothing to do except for waiting for evening and go gambling.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by bringing financial help to my home. This is through giving me such lump sum unconditional transfers that has improved my standard of living. However, in my opinion GiveDirectly has postively impacted in my community. This is evidence from the reduced famine and improved housing.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer Ugx 785000 to buy some livestock such as a cow, and three sheep. These will act as my investment plan as when they reproduce, I will have enough livestock to sustain my family as I can sell off to get money and solve any arising financial issues. I also bought a bicycle at Ugx 230000. This is to ease transportation in my home. I used the balance to give to my brother in-law and sister then bought some household items such as bedding, clothes, utensils and buying food for feeding my family.
