How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is good now, I am relaxed and I feel respected because my home is beautiful after I constructed an iron roofed house. Previously , I suffered because I had to look for grass which was scarse for my hut. I was sleeping together with my six children in a very small room.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me money and advised us during the community baraza to spend money for uplifting ourselves from poverty. I can not forge any thing that they have not done well, I just pray for them to continue doing their best.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for buying bricks, cement, iron sheets, a window and door. These materials were used for completing the house I started constructing with the first transfer. I paid the constructors with the balance of the money.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I have is not enough to accommodate me and my children. I believe this will provide better space for my private life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when my children return from school. They relive me from my worries especially when they help me take up some household responsibilities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is managing a family alone as a widow. Since my husband died, I have been battling alone with my children. Feeding, treatment, dressing and all other needs have to be met and yet there is no clear source of income. I depend on agriculture but some seasons don't favour crops so I end up harvesting little yet the need is high. Sometimes I have had to do casual labour just to find for children what to eat.
