Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Since we are approaching the end of our transfer we thought of pooling our money together as a family and save for the next three months so that we would spend to buy a dairy cow. We got one cow at the moment and when it is not lactating like now we are forced to buy milk for use at home which is more expensive since we buy other food items. It is my hope that when we got two we will serve these cows alternating so that we would have milk throughout and even sell the surplus to earn some income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Last season, we didn't manage to harvest maize due to disease which affected our maize crops. Ugali is a staple food which we usually take for lunch and supper. With the transfer which I received from GD for the last few months, I have been spending part of it to buy maize and other food items for the family. We haven't missed the food even a single day as I and my wife are beneficiaries of Give Directly. Now we are living a happy life since we can take care of our basic needs with less struggle.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I believe that we would be living a better life since I would have bought a cow. With these transfers, I have been able to build two houses, one for our children and one for the family. Having added one cow to my stock will be a great achievement and with the little income which I would be earning through the casual jobs would be enough to cater to other family needs.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Hard labor was always the only choice I had in order to provide for my family. I had been trekking for long distances to a nearby town where I would work on loading and offloading cargo form lories at a wage of about kes 300 per day. This being the only sourcce of income made it difficult to even imagim how Iwould pay school fees fo rmny children next yesr. These transfers have changed my life because I have another income from livestock and poultry keeping. My family is now very stable.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I don't have a new goal but to keep buying goats to rear so that from selling them, I raise enough money to buy a dairy cow. I intend to keep increasing the number of goats so that at the end of the year, I will have more money because they multiply very quickly and grow fast.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is having livestock and chicken to keep. I have been using each of the last transfers to buy a goat and 4 chickens. I do this jointly with my wife. I am so glad that I am successful in establishing my farming enterprise. I collect about 10 eggs per day and the money from selling it is used in meeting my daily household needs. As for the goats, they multiply very fast to earn me extra income on selling in the future. Unlike before when I used to rely on menial jobs, the poultry income is meeting my daily needs more easily than before I bought them.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the six months, I will be a milk producer form the dairy cow that I will be buying soon. I will have my child in a secondary schoool that will require more from me. I know that this challenge is going to be hard but I will manage it

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I spend more time and energy working on my farm unlike before when I used to handle lots of casual work. Unlike the previous years, I have managed to hire a tractor to cultivate my farm and planted high-quality seeds. Subsequently, I look forward to a huge harvest. Moreover, I have gained considerable prestige from the new house that I constructed using the transfers from GiveDirectly. This has motivated me to build a better kitchen - a project that is on-going.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The additional goal for my life for the next four months is to buy a cow. Since we have never owned a cow, we have been relying on purchased milk - a practice that is unsustainable for an individual with no reliable source of income. Still, owning a cow will draw me more prestige from my community. Additionally, I look forward to having concluded the construction of our new kitchen in the next four months. I will save the transfers from GiveDirectly to finance the projects. Besides, I will request my wife to support me in raising the funds.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I am more hopeful of a better life in the future when my family shall no longer sleep hungry. I look forward to a huge harvest from the maize that I have planted. This is because I have afforded to hire a tractor to cultivate my land. Besides, I managed to buy adequate and high-quality seeds. Subsequently, I am optimistic that after the anticipated good harvest we shall have adequate food in our family. As a result, I will save lots of money which could have otherwise been used to buy food. The savings will be used to finance other projects including the purchase of a cow and leasing of more farmland.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change significantly in the next six months. This is because I will be having my own dairy cow. Subsequently, I will be saving more funds which could otherwise be used to buy milk. Moreover, my family shall have enough milk for consuption. I will top up the savings with the transfers from GiveDirectly to be used in leasing more land to facilitate my farming activities. Still, I will be spending most of my time working on my farm. Hence, I will no longer be handling the casual work that I have been doing.
