What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent by second transfer to buy bricks at 900,000Ugx, Iron bars 198,000Ugx, paid off a morgage 200,000Ugx and got back my garden, and the balance I used for paying labour for the builders and for buying food.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion Give Directly has done well by getting people out of poverty by giving them cash.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is going to be different in way that am to sleep in an iron roofed house in few months to come when I finish to build my house, this was made possible by Give Directly cash transfer, I will not look for grass any more .

What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I paid off for the mortgage amount of land worth 500,000ugx, Purchased iron sheets worth 500,000ugx that I intend to start construction of a permanent house when my second transfer comes, i also purchased beddings worth 190, 000ugx in order to improve on the living conditions. The balance of the money, I used for buying food and other household items to support the family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When my first transfer hit my mobile money account at around mid night, sleep disappeared and I felt like morning was not approaching, coupled with a lot of joy and happiness.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I used to hire land for cultivation because we had mortgaged the only peace of land we had, recovering it back means a lot to my family in terms of food production. Thanks to the founder and staff of Give Directly.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i face in my family is lack of land .My family is experiencing hunger because of no land to culitivate,so some times it's hard to get what to eat due to little or no crops yields realised very year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is evening hours after I eat a meal. This is when i liten to my children telling interesting stories amongest themselves and it makes me smile.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
The first priority I wish to spend this tranfers is to build permanent house.This is because it has become very difficult to get thatching materials in my village.This will make me save money spent always on replacing thatch after every two years for feeding and purshasing assets like animals that shall be of benefit for the family.
