How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I hope to accomplish the building of my houae in Zleh Town because there my children are schooling.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is doing extremely well, but they should improve on giving to all the nearby communities that are left out of the program, or else they will fee discriminated.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
"I was home on October 13, when my phone rang and it was a mobile money message that I have received 35, 625LD from GiveDirectly. I was really happy. The first thing I thought about was hiring workers to brush under my cocoa farm. The cocoa farm is my major source of income. Therefore, clearing the grass from around it was my concern. I was so glad when I had the opportunity to do it".
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
"My children were often thrown out of school because I couldn't afford to pay their balance tuition. Since the day I received the money, I was able to pay their balance tuition and also buy food for the house. Now, I am not worried anymore about my children's tuition, and they don't have to go to my neighbor's place after school just to have something to eat. I am grateful to God for GiveDirectly".
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
"My family does not own a house. Building a house has been my priority. Therefore, I spent 15,000 of my transfer to buy one lot of land in zleh town so that I can start my house project. The remainder of the money was used to pay my children's balance school fees, buy food for the house, and also hired workers to brush my cocoa farm. All thanks to GiveDirectly for putting smiles on our faces".

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a father of 7 children, and as such, paying school fees for all seven children is a huge challenge for me. I am also planting cocoa on a large plot of land which requires paying casual lobsters to help me with the physical work.
If I am qualified to receive the cash transfer, 50% of the cash to pay my children's school fees and use the balance 50% on my cocoa farm.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Back in August, my daughter who I support in Ivory Coast to attend school called me and informed me that she is graduating from high school this month and that she also has a job opportunity. This brought me so much joy and happiness that it will reduce the financial burden I currently have.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My wife joined a saving club last year with a committee of paying 600 every Sunday. She was unable to regularly pay her dues to the saving club which led to the club confiscating her share of the savings.
The farm we rice farm we made this year has also been flooded with water, thereby destroying 75% of the rice. Against these backdrops, I am currently facing the challenges of no cash to care for my family
