How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before GiveDirectly came, I did not have a stable source of income since I was working as a casual laborer in a nearby car wash which was not enough to meet all my needs well. On the days when there was no work, my spouse brought out arguments over money-related issues that I did not like. This is why I chose to buy a motorcycle and start a bodaboda since it's very marketable in our area. Today, I get enough profits from the business without a miss which has really helped me grow financially and meet the small needs on time. As a result, we are now living peacefully with my spouse since I am able to meet my obligation as the man of the house. At the same time, having paid dowry for my wife is another difference I have gained from GiveDirectly because I have good relationship with my in-laws and full ownership of my wife as custom matters are considered.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by up lifting the standard of my village members through giving money worth investing on which was not refundable. I feel happy when I see the positive impact the transfer has brought to the majority of the community members which is feasible. Personally, I do not see what GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the larger part of my second transfer on buying a second hand motorcycle 47,000 KES which servers as a source of my family's livelihood . The remaining amount I boosted my spouse's small business hence she is able to chip in part of her profits in the provision of our family's needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I shall be financially empowered to do some of the projects I have been planning to do. These include building my own house because I have been living in a rental house for the past 5 years.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at night when we are resting together as a family and are able to reflect how good and faithful God has been to us as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is being unable to provide food to my family members since I do not have a reasonable source of income. Sometimes it forces us to forgo basic meals due to lack of money to buy them.
