How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Inlike in the past when I was seen as a beggar, I am now capable of paying school fees for my children with ease. I have a house which to me is still a dream. I have a peaceful mind, and this has contributed to good planning for my business. Sometimes back, I was diagnosed with ulcers due to worries, but that is no longer there.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The Organization has brought hope to the poor people who were perceived not to posses anything. When I looked at the work people have done, it was clear that it is only lack of resources that can rendered human being helpless. Everyone love good things. GiveDirectly should coordinate with local administrators when it comes to recovering money lost in the hands of helpers and trustees. They should be put to task to repay the money they have looted from vulnerable individuals.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on school fees, building materials and food. I have two children in colleges, and one in secondary school who need school fees. With the little I gain from my fish business, it will not be enough to sustain the family too. I also build a house for my son who is still jobless and is not capable of building a house of his own. He has been sleeping at neighborhood which is not in order. It could be needful for a parent to monitor the child development, especially adolescent one.
