Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I now have a hope of taking my child to begin his high school studies unlike before since I wasn't financially stable then. I am now happy that receiving this transfer has strengthened me to take my child to school and to invest in his education. To me, this is the biggest difference the money has brought into my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I wasn't expecting such a message on that day. I was used to receiving notification of messages but this was special. I was doing my daily house chores when a neighbour came to me to ask whether I had received a message from GiveDirectly. I quickly called for my son to check who confirmed to me that I had also received the promised money. I was overjoyed and I felt happier than never before! I thanked God and GiveDirectly for the money as I celebrated joyfully with my family.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
On receiving my first transfer, I purchased a pair of oxen to facilitate early land preparations and cultivation. I had a number of acres which I was unable to fully cultivate due to inferior and tiresome tools I had and the high cost of hiring oxen from neighbours, thus I could only manage to till a small acreage, which mostly led to poor harvests due to untimely preparations also. I thank GiveDirectly since I now know that I will be able to utilize my land fully to reap maximum yields and get rid of the problem of food shortage in my household. I also purchased 4 goats as assets which I am certain that upon reproducing, I will be able to sell some in future for further investment. The transfer has also enabled me to prepare my child who will be joining secondary school this year and to pay for his school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that, we will buy goats and start livestock rearing. Once the goats multiply, we will sell them and get money to cater for family needs which are food and education for our children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. This is because I wake up feeling so healthy and my blood pressure is at its normal level.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is poor health. I suffered from fistula for over twenty years. This condition stigmatized me and I could not associate with other people due to fear and shame. Currently am suffering from high blood pressure which drains my financial resources, since I have to go for frequent medical checkups.
