With my first, second and third money i received from givedirectly, i was able to buy two bundles of zinc, one matress, packs of nails, food and plants to improve my old house. Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My house is very old and it is almost falling apart. My major goal at the moment is to build a house and moved in with my family before rainy season begins. I was on my cassava farm when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly. I immediately ran home and joined the rest of the town's people who were jubilating because they had also received transfer from GD. I was so pleased and excited. I will use my transfer to build a bigger house that will serve as shelter for me and my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving my transfer from GiveDirectly, my family and I were almost homeless. Our house was very old and falling apart. We wouldn't have had anywhere to sleep within the next couple of months. Surprisingly, GiveDirectly transfer has changed my situation entirely. I have enough money to initiate my house project that would be completed very soon. This has been the biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving transfer from GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been contemplating on how to raise enough money to build a house for my family and I to move in before the rainy season. Therefore, as soon as I received my transfer, I bought 3 bundles of zinc ($31,500LD) to roof my house. Likewise, portion of my transfer was used to buy 1 carton of zinc nails and mixed nails for roofing purpose. It is amazing to see how much my dreams have come close to reality with GiveDirectly's financial assistance.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I plan to build my house and to also send my daughter to school. When my Father passed away few years ago, I stop going to school because my mother could not afford to send me to school. I later moved to Garpue town in 2019 and started working on the gold mine to support my baby mama and my baby but I do not earn enough money to build my own house. So that is why when I receive my transfer, I will use portion of it to build my house and to send my 3yrs old daughter to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Recently while digging gold in the bush, I was able to get a good quantity which I sold and was able to get few things for my family and this made me very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My woman just graduated from the 6 grade and I don't have money to send her back to school in Yarpah town. I also want to build my house and to do business but the resources is not available.
