What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Most of the money was spent on renovating the house , the reason why is that I was living in a house that was in a bad condition.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I thank immensely Givedirectly for the donation, I was able to improve my standards of living and now I am able to buy food for my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was home when I heard it from my neighbors and because I don't know how to use my phone. I asked my child to help me to check if the money arrived on the momo account. I was happy and at moment I was hoping to change my life.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The greatest challenge I have is not being able to reach the hospital easily, we don't have access to roads and the hospital is located very far from where I live and it becomes difficult for me as I am getting older , i have little energy left to walk that whole distance. I am not even capable of working to get money to use and the small land I have doesn't produce enough for me to eat and my grandson, I have to ask some support from my children. I live with my grandson who also have eye sickness as me and it is not easy for us to go to the hospital to get treatment.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Reaching this age alive safe and sound itself is a miracle for me , I am currently not lacking what to eat because i have my children to support me whenever I need . Another happy memory I recently had is that in these past days my daughter Anne marie sent me $8 to buy a small pig and i was really happy because i no longer have energy to work for any money.
What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
The first installment i will build a new house because the one i currently live in is very old , I am also planning to buy clothes , food and pay for workers to work for in my land. In the second installment I am planning to buy livestocks, I will buy a pig for $100 and a goat for $40 to give me fertiliser and i will also pay for medical insurance and the balance i will save it and use it in the future. Receiving this money will help me take a break and pay workers to cultivate my land and this will help me get a stable and healthy life.
