Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is having enough food to feed my family. We have been having the challenge of having this challenge because the income I got my casual jobs was not enough. Also, due to the small piece of land that I have, I could not manage to plant my own maize crop thus I have been relying only on buying it. Thanks to GiveDirectly. The transfer assisted me to purchase three sacks of maize that can sustain us for some months now.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the message notification early in the morning. I quickly checked the message notification because I was surprised who would have to text me this early in the morning. Upon checking, it was notifying me that I have received money from GiveDirectly. I felt very happy because I knew that some of my dreams will be fulfilled.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my transfer on purchasing a dairy cow. Buying milk everyday is very expensive. My main source of income is doing casual jobs. Getting this casual jobs sometimes is very difficult because a lot of people in my area also rely on this for a living thus there is a lot of competition. Lastly, I spent the other part to lease a piece of land. I have been yearning to have a piece of land to cultivate maize since the one we have was small. This lets us to be buying maize every now and then. I would like to thank GiveDirectly because with the transfers it enabled me to achieve my dreams.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wanted to be a large scale poultry farmer.Poultry farming does very well in this place due to favourable weather conditions.I have not been able to achieve this because of funds.I do not have a stable source of income because am a casual labourer. What I get is barely enough to provide basic needs for my family.Receiving this money means that I will not only be able to achieve my dream of starting a poultry farm but will also enable me to buy a dairy cow with part of the transfer
What is the happiest part of your day?
When I wake up in the morning,i go for my morning run(since I am aspiring to be an international athlete someday). After my morning run,i come back home to have breakfast then I set out to look for a casual job ie weeding, planting or harvesting. On a good day,i get paid upto sh 200 for a particular job and on such days am happy because am sure my family will have a good meal at the end of the day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I do not have a stable job.I do manual jobs within the village to be able to provide for my family.I have even tried athletics to be able to have an alternative source of income. There are days that i can get a casual to do like weeding and harvesting while there are days when there is no work to do.On these days,i barely have anything to take home to my family. My biggest worry is being able to sustain my family while i do not have a stable job
