How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different than it was before because I nowadays own a cow and a goat. For a long time, I had just imagined owning even a single goat, although this seemed impossible to me because I have been struggling financially all through my life. As a matter of facts, I had never earned or received an amount exceeding 5,000 KES at once. At the moment, I am proud of GiveDirectly which has made me be counted among livestock owners within my village.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my new goal is to strive to renovate my house. I am planning to replace the roofing since the current one is rusty thus making it leaky. As a result, I have been having disrupted sleep whenever it rains at night. When my house's roof is renovated, I shall be able to save my household items from being damaged by rain.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In the last four months, the biggest difference in my life is being able to enroll my son to form one this year. At the beginning of last year when he enrolled for his end of primary education, I was worried about how I could raise his secondary education fee. He is a bright boy and I have been desiring to see him advancing well with his education to the university level. I was so happy when I was considered by GiveDirectly to be enrolled as a beneficiary in its program. This revived my dream and I decided to save some money purposefully for his form one admission which was indeed a success. This has really made me feel less burdened and now I am wishing him all the best in his studies.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have replaced my house's roof. I shall, therefore, be living in a better house with good roofing thus I shall be safe from rain. Moreover, my household items and beddings will also be safe from rain. I shall no longer be disrupted from sleep when it rains at night because I shall be having a good shelter. Through it all, my life will change for better and I shall be living happily.
