How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I'm now planning to build a decent house because the transfer I received from give directly I have used them to settle school fees arrears for my daughter who is at maseno University Now planning to open a business with little savings I have
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Change lives;for instance in my case my daughter could not have joined university but because of the transfer I received from give directly her life is going to transform. Gives hope;Initially my daughter lost hope because she was not going to continue with her education due to lack of school fees but the moment I received my transfers and paid for her school fees she is now hoping for a good life after her education. Give directly helps people properties from being auctioned by auctioneers due to delay in repaying their loans for example in my village majority of the women were so much disturbed because of the (kenya women loan) they took and they were unable to repay, so the company was to come and auction their properties for for example land, but the moment they received the transfer from give directly they settled their loans and they are now leaving a peaceful life. Give directly are doing are very good job so according to me I don't see the area they need to improve .

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It had been a long wait when I finally received the transfer as my child who needed to join her first year in University was already late. Other scholars had reported two weeks ago and our hope of seeing her join was slowly dying down. It was all celebrations when we finally received a confirmation message that rejuvenated all hopes, filled us with energy, and gave us wide smiles on our faces again. I was with children at home that morning and we celebrated and thanked God together for the support that we had just received.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the joy of seeing my child who was on the verge of giving up finally in school. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for this support and looking forward to the second transfer that will be useful in starting other new projects that we had been planning.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a huge part of my transfer on ensuring that my daughter who had been patiently waiting for this support get to school. I spent KES24700 on her school fees for the whole semester and also had to book her a room that she will be living in. Even though it was so expensive, I had to team up with another parent who was also looking for a room for her child too; paid KES15000 each for our two children to live together in the same house. With the remaining amount, I spent KES13000 on purchasing all the school requirements and some food that they will be using for the next few weeks. I am glad that she finally settled. I came home happy, spent the small remaining amount on household foodstuff that we have been using as well with my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this transfers will be a major boost to my family. I am a single mother and I struggle a lot to fend for my family and to pay school fees. In fact, my daughter deferred her studies because of lack of school fees , she was to join Maseno university sometime last September but that did not materialize. I intend to use the transfers to take her back to school, I will use KES 53000 to cater for school fees, accommodation, and shopping. Then use the rest of the money to build a decent house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When my daughter passed her Kenya certificate of secondary Education exams and her subsequent admission to Maseno university , I was so happy. I saw a better future in her and my effort of raising school fees were rewarding.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Challenges are many at the moment.I am a very sad lady. Raising school fees is the biggest challenge I am facing right now. I am also taking care of my ailing dad , he has a problem with his brain. He is indisposed and he is being assisted to do many things. His medication is expensive and we have to take him to hospital for check ups and reviews most of the time.
