How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have acquired most of the needed materials that will be used for constructing an iron roofed housed. The builders are currently on higher demand, but the construction worker will start anytime. When my house is complete, I will be relieved from the burden of renovating my hut yearly given the scarcity of grass in our community. Secondly I bought a cow that I believe will help me settle future needs and produce milk. Prior to receiving this transfers, I didn't have hope of constructing an iron roofed house and acquiring a cow because the money I got was mainly spent on buying foodstuffs and house hold items.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To me, GiveDirectly did well to give cash transfers that I spent to buy construction materials and a cow. GiveDirectly only did well on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase 8 pieces of iron sheets, timber, 2 trips of bricks, nails, binding wire, foodstuffs, clothes, mattress and bed sheets. I have not used UGX 200,000 but I intend to spend it on paying construction workers.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The grass thatched house that I currently occupy leaks and with my condition, I am not able to put it right.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I am listening to music over the radio. This relaxes my mind.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is sickness. I am a victim of epilepsy and I can not work like other people do. This is because of the frequent attacks that are associated with this disease.
