How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed, GiveDirectly transfers have enabled me construct a spacious iron roofed house that I would have not managed to do on my own. I had brewed beer for years in order to raise money for constructing the house but all was in vain. Thank you to Give Directly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to follow me up to find out how the transfers were spent and if I got any challenges with the transfers. I feel good and happy when they visit me. All is good with the way GiveDirectly works.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer for buying a door, 2 trips of bricks, 1 of sand and 3 bags of cement for constructing my iron roofed house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is different now because I'm so glad that I will be able to construct an iron roofed house which I never managed on my own. Furthermore if my house is completed, I will no longer have to stress myself looking for grass to maintain or renovate my grass thatched house. The current house I occupy leaks so badly which has never given me a peace of mind because whenever it rains I have to get up and fold off my beddings which is kinda irritating most especially at night when I'm enjoying my sleep. Therefore with GiveDirectly's intervention, this will be no more and I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the philanthropic world for liberating us from extreme poverty.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy and delighted for having received this money. I ululated and gave praise to God for it was his will that brought GiveDirectly unto my community.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I haven't started spending my transfer yet but I'm planning to use on constructing a house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. Maintaining a grass thatched house is expensive because it involves changing grass every now and then. An iron roofed house will relieve me of the burdden of looking for grass.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in noon time when I am seated with my children. We chatt and relax ourselves.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face is sickness. I am on medication most of the time. This means money because I have to buy drugs. The little money that I happen to get is spent on treatment just to try and have some peace. Sometimes I have had to force myself out to do casual labour in order to earn some money. However, I can not work as I would wish because I am limited by my condition.
