How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Had it not for the transfers from GiveDirectly, I wouldn't have bought seats and tables. I had no money to help me realize this dream. I am happy that the money helped us in this big way. I also recall that the money enabled me to pay school fees for my children who are in secondary school. This ensured that they are well kept in school, studying and concentrating in the exams. Once they pass, we expect that their lives would be better than ours.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly does good by offering financial support to poor people to help them rise beyond their means in terms of unconditional cash transfers. There is really nothing that GD does wrong!
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the entire transfers on procurement of seats and chairs for the newly renovated house. The house had been renovated, but there was no seats to cover it up. The transfers played the role where we were able to have tables and seats. The larger part of the amount went to the actual renovation of the house.
