How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life us different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have fully recover. Had it not have been for the transfer, I would still be seeking medical attention at our nearest hospital where I was majorly being given painkillers yet I was still in so much pain. I am glad since I have recovered fully and I can do all the work that I could not do before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by ensuring that every eligible household in our village was enrolled and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I had been sick for some time before GiveDirectly came for enrollment. I was always seeking medical attention at our nearest hospital but J had not received and I was in so much pain. When I received my second transfer, I spent it to further my medication. I visited a specialist in another hospital and paid for my treatment.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Being an old woman, I no longer have the energy to smear the mud house and so most of the time, It was unappealing to the eye. I always had to pay someone to come do it for me which was financially draining. At the moment, I am now happy because I know my problems are soon coming to an end since the house is still under construction. At least I will no longer not only have to spend on house maintenance but also have a decent and clean cooking area
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very delighted when I received I realized that I have been sent money from Give Directly. At first, I thought it was a scam and I had to check my Mpesa balance to confirm. I saw my dream of having a decent kitchen coming to reality
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money I received to pay for construction labour as well as to purchase some construction material in order to construct a new kitchen made of bricks. I had all along longed to do so since the one I currently had is an old mud house which is very tiring to maintain.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am planning to use my first and second transfer towards our house completion. We are in its final phases and we need to install some kitchen wares like utensils cabinet.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a poultry farmer. When I Was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure a few years ago, I decided to venture into this kind of business as it is less laborious and less stressful. My day involves feeding them and monitoring them till afternoon. I would get time to rest in the evening and revitalize for the next day. This is the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Most people in my community depend on stagnant water pans for their domestic purposes like livestock and household chores. When they dry up during drought, we are forced to hire motorcycles to go for water in distant rivers. This is often costly when there is no alternative source of income.
