Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was home seated when I received my cash transfer. I couldn't believe that I have received such amount of money. When I withdrew my money, I bought beef so that I can share the happiness with my family. It has been a very nice moment from the time I received my transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Currently, I am like living in a new world. I can't believe the life I am living. So much has changed. I have enough food for the year bought using the money I received. I have also managed to pay Escom bills which I couldn't have managed on my own. I am so grateful for this.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I did electricity wiring in my house 3 years ago. At ESCOM, there were demanding 90 as connection fee because my house will need one electric pole. I paid MK 90 000 at ESCOM. I am just waiting for a connection. I had no food in my house and I bought 10 bags of maize for food processing. I used MK 35 000 to buy Mattress for my children. I also bought clothes for my entire family. I used part of the money to top up capital for my business. I am currently selling fish and tomatoes.
