How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My only goal was to renovate my house which was in bad shape . I was a daily hired contractor using the power saw to cut trees down and sawed them It was a hard work but i had to feed my family. GiveDirectly cash transfers brought lots of changes in my life and i am so grateful.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly do well in sending cash transfers on time, making sure their follow up officers check on us to make sure there is no problem. I want to say abig thank you to GiveDirectly.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy when I received this money. Because I'm renting in someone's house, and I don't want to continue renting. So, I have decided to pay my rent with about 20% of the money, to repair my power saw and to start up my own building.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I feel happy and bless these days since I received this money. I have repaired my power saw and I have a well decent room that I can comfortably sleep in. I'm now capable of building my own house without much of struggle
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I paid my house rent, I bought one bunch of zinc, and I bought materials to and repaired my power saw for business. I also bought some household items for my upkeep.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I receive this money I will build my own house and take the full responsibility of my children which will bring me so much joy. Eventhough I work as a daily hire at times to sustain myself but the money I earn from the job is not enough to take care of my children and build a house. I feel bad at times living in family house and haven't settled down with any woman yet since my wife died. Anytime I decide to bring woman in the house, it has always became a serious problem between my family and I. As a grown up man now, I should be the one taking the full responsibility of my children, instead it is my mother who is feeding my family as well as paying my children school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six month what had brought me joy or happiness is when my mother recovered from her sick bed in June 2021. Her recovery from the sick bed has brought me so much happiness because she's the only person who is taking the full responsibility of my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The hardships I am facing now is the lack of Money. Since my wife died I have not been able to take care of my children for the past ten (10) years now and build a house of my own. I feel uncomfortable with the kind of life I'm living. My late wife and I build a house when she was alive but the house broke down and I decided to move in my family house. Since I moved in my family house I have not had peace. Any woman I decide to marry leave me because of my family behaviour towards them and because of what my family are doing, I haven't settled down with any woman yet. I will really be grateful if I receive any help to improve the life and livelihoods of my children.
