How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I now have a peace of mind after settling the arrears of land that I now live on. I was initially facing eviction since the owner of the land who gave it to us as a gift changed his mind and demanded payments. I used some part of the transfer on construction of a new house. I used to live in a very old house with tilted walls and rusty roof that was also leaky. The remaining part of the transfer went to chairs which I nowadays sit on with comfort unlike before when I used to literally sit on a dusty floor. Thanks to GiveDirectly transfers, I am a totally changed human being with enormous value and honour.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has given people the power to improve on their social status. Unconditional cash transfer has made us happy since we have the power on decision marking and freedom of choice. The method used is also convenient, safe, effective and efficient. However, it would have added more transfers to the old and widows.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent some part of the transfer on settling arrears of land that I live on. I was facing eviction in that the owner of the land who initially gave it to us as a gift changed his mind and demanded payments. At least I now live in peace without any fear of destruction of property and shame. I spent the remaining part to construct a new house. I used to live in a very old house with tilted walls that could fall any time. The roof was also leaky and rusty. Thanks to GiveDirectly transfers.
