How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I now have money to take care of my family's needs as well as paying school fees for my children which in the past was not such an easy thing to handle considering the amount of money that I used to make per day. Working as self-employed personnel is so satisfying because I do not have to take orders and restrictions from anyone the way it used to happen in the past.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization changes peoples lives because once the recipients get the unconditional transfers, they buy what they lacked the most or alternatively they use the money to pay school fees for their children and other things they could not afford
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash on buying a motorbike which I needed so much because it will be of help in my motorcycle business which I have been running for more than ten years. I was initially employed by someone whom I used to pay some returns at the end of each day but I no longer need to do that anymore because I am currently self-employed.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I was previously employed by a neighbour who gave me her motorcycle to operate for taxi services which could not earn me adequate income for meeting my family's basic need. Through the transfer, I was able to purchase my own motorbike and is currently getting a good income from it. Owning this motorbike is the biggest daily difference in my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy now that the transfer would enable me to purchase my own motorbike and to provide taxi services and earn an income.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I was given a motorbike by my neighbour who had employed me to provide bodaboda services in our area and to give him a return daily. At times this was cumbersome and the money would not be enough to take home, I had planned to have my own but due to the shortage of finances, my plans could not work out. I thank GiveDirectly for they have fulfilled my desire and through the transfer, I acquired a motorbike and now I am operating and fully benefitting from it's returns.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving money from Give directly makes me feel happy and grateful. It means I will now have a chance to purchase my own motorcycle for taxi as opposed to being employed with little return on my hardwork.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after completion of my daily transportation activities When I finally come back home safely to join my family members.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is unemployment. Without any source of income meeting any basic need becomes so difficult because one is emotionally, financially and socially strained.
