Giving cash directly to recipients and visiting on a regular basis
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before the transfer, I had a plan to build my own house. I had been in my uncle's house for more than twenty years In a very small room along with my children. Most of the time, my children had to sleep in the wall way because the room is so small that it can not accommodate us. Many days, I feel very shame, embarrassed and wealthless in this village seeing an old woman like me with four children still living in uncle's house but I'm so thankful to Give Directly for bringing a Life saving program to our community. I am very happy that my building project is ongoing successfully. In addition, some of the good and different things that Give Directly doing for us living in extreme poverty are, giving cash directly to the poor, bringing opportunities to our doors and allowing us to use the cash received at our own decisions.

What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Due to the plenty goals, i have not withdraw my first and second transfer yet but will do so very soon when i receive my third transfer. Paying my five children school fees, buying iron sheets to improve my house roof and paying people to brush my cassava farm are what i intent to spend my recent transfer on. It has not been easy for me and my family. I do have too many responsibilities to attend to these days. It's like i am almost a single mother. Because my children father is too old and sick to help with the children support and the house that i live in. The money received from GiveDirectly finds me the right moment. Where i have been worrying of how to handle these huge responsibilities. But thanks to GiveDirectly that I can now achieve all of my goals with these money received.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly has done all the good i have long been praying to God to do for me and my family. So right now my family and i are very happy and do not even know how to appreciate you people. There is no bad things that I know or have seen about this organisation. All is well with GiveDirectly.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goals now are to improve my house roof with iron sheet or zinc, to pay my five children school fees and to pay people to brush my cassava farm to start new crops planting. I am a mother with five children to care for, since my children father is very old and sick. We have been separated for long now. They live with him at ITI community in River Cess county. Now all their burden rest on me. Sleeping under an iron sheets roof seems impossible for me. And i look forward to planting enough cassava this year to sell. All these are plans that i want to achieve and that's why up to present i have not cash out my first and second transfers. I have decided to save them till the third transfer come in order to do all that which i have plan for my family and I.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge is seeing my children not being in school and living in a house that is licking whenever rain falls.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing my children and myself crossing all of these rivers without being drowned bring happiness to me.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will used the money to invest into clothing for selling purpose in order to make profit to send my children to Monrovia to get better education because my being in this village is due to lack of education which led me to becoming a farmer. I feel jealous whenever my friends' children return from Monrovia with material things to support their parents and my children are sitting without going to school. Once my children are educated, I strongly believe that my living condition will improve besides the remaining money will be used to establish a business which will always allow me to handle cash for people to respect me.
