For the past 7 years we have been unable to complete the construction of our house .We have 2 children in school,one in university and another in high school .Payment of their school fees from my husband salary and my trading business has been straineous leading to a standstill in the household projects.Receiving this transfers means a dream come true in our family because we can now fully complete the construction of our house with approximately KES 60000.The remaining amount of KES 10000 will be used to purchase 10 fishing nets hence enabling me to scale up my daily income from KES 600 to KES 18000.This means a better life for my family
What is the happiest part of your day?
Being a fish trader in Kampi samaki near lake Baringo has brought joy into my life in the past 6 months .I have been able to vend for my family, pay school fees for my 2 children as well as join women's merry-go-round within our community.Despite not being fully satisfied with the amount I earn per day from this work ,I am happy because I see my family's status being better placed in the society as compared to some of my neighbors who are employed.In March this year I was able to acquire household furniture and utensils from the amount I had saved in the merry -go-round ,this has made my happy because I can openly welcome visitors into my house without being ashamed of where they can sit or use to eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraint is the biggest challenge am currently facing.I have been a fish trader for the past 15 years in Kampi samaki near lake Baringo.Reaping good returns from this work has been a challenge because of the financial inability to acquire personal fishing nets.Having 10 fishing nets means I can always have an average of 600 fishes per day which is equivalent to KES 18000.Unfortunately ,I have had to cope up with an income of KES 600 per day from selling 30 pieces of fish borrowed from those owning the nets . Currently am hoping that this issue of lack of money comes to an end so that I can achieve my desired goals.
