How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I previously planned to use mud to plaster my house, but I see it necessary to have it plaster with cements. So I'm going to buy 10 bags of cement to plaster my house to give it a decent look.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is a different organization from others that I have seen. Imagine, giving people money with no cost attached. This alone indicate that, GiveDirectly works are wonderful.

Although I have not cash out my money yet but I intend on buying 10 bags of cement and other assorted building materials for new house project. I will also buy food and save little amount for the workmanship.

My new goal is to buy zinc to renovate my roof.

What Give Directly does well is to help people with money. That is very good about them because they empower us.

I spend my most recent transfer purchasing food and contractors payment. The contractors are those who are making blocks for me.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
One of my wishes in life has always been owning a decent house. Presently, I do not have a stable income to meet the basic needs of my family. If I receive this cash transfer, I will invest it into a building project which will make my dream of owning a decent house come true. I will also use some of the cash transfer to send my children to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My family and I are going through a tough financial situation, which caused us not to have enough to eat day. The issue of securing food for the day has been a great challenge to me. Last month, my daughter who lives out of this village sent for me and gave me some money to buy food. I was so happy when I received the money from her.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Many nights I go to bed with tears in my eyes because I can not meet the basic needs of my family due to financial difficulty. I really want to start a business to support my family, but I do not have the financial strength to do so.
