Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Jenneh Gballey is my name I lived in Jawajohn with my husband and two kids. I was on my way to make a call to the place we usually go to get a network when I received my transfer but I don't take note of it because I can not read and write. However, before reaching the network point, I met my brother-in-law who gave me the information that GiveDirectly has sent the transfer. At that moment I felt very happy because I have been planning to change my house but my husband and I do not have the money to undertake the project.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before I could start receiving my transfer, my husband and I have been surviving on farming and charcoal production but now, I bless God for GiveDirectly because we don't have to do hard labour compare to before and lastly, they have empowered us to build our own house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my transfer to buy Zinc, food and to pay my children tuition.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I get this money, I will send my children to school. Three of my children are currently out of school due to lack of money. This harvest year we experience low production from our farm due to the animals, mainly birds. In previous years, we had more productions because the rice was no eaten by the birds, which enable us sell some of the harvest and used the money to sent the children to school. Now we can't do same this year due to the fact that our harvest is low. Sending our children to school will help our kids have a better future, which could benefit us if they're educated. Also I will like to fix my house. This house is old, and the roofing mat is damaged which is causing serious discomfort for us. The children get sick from rain, as well as inserts from the roofing mat during dry season. Solving these problems will help my family and I from sicknesses.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What has made me happy since the last six months is seeing Give Directly in our town today. We have been hearing and seeing Give Directly people going to other towns besides us, and this has worried us. Seeing Give Directly helping other towns that experiencing similar difficulties like us and leaving us was worrisome. Seeing Give Directly here, we know our problems are solved.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My current challenges includes lack of money to send our kids to school, unable to fix my house, and looking after my husband's health. This school year has started, and three of our children are not in school due to the lack of money. This year we didn't get more rice from our farm because of the birds. In previous years, we had more productions because the rice was no eaten by the birds, which enable us sell some of the harvest and used the money to sent the children to school. Now we can't do same this year due to the fact that our harvest is low. Also our house is old. Because of that it leaks, and the mud is fallen. These situations causing serious discomfort for us. The children get sick from due to rain, as well as inserts from the roofing mat during dry season. Due to no money we continue experiencing this situation Everytime.
