I could not enjoy peace in my home since since I couldn't access to a good shelter. But am now in perfect peace having constructed a new decent and iron roofed house. My children are also in school and have never been sent home since receiving this money. I was able to clear for their school fees on time, thus their studies are no longer interrupted.

GiveDirectly has done well in helping us to improve our lives. We have been able to build new houses that we couldn't afford on our own cost, also educating our children and owning livestock. I do not see anything that GiveDirectly does not do well in my opinion.

I spent part of the transfer to buy some building materials that include iron sheets, building poles and paid for the labour cost. I was building a new house because the one I was previously living in was in a very bad condition, it was grass thatched and leaking during rains. After building the house, I also purchased foodstuffs for my family as well as paying for my household expenses.

The biggest difference that the money has brought into my daily life is previously I could not buy any cow at my own cost. It was only through the GiveDirectly money that I was able to obtain them and keep them in my compound.

I was very happy and peaceful the moment I checked my messages in my phone and came across the notification from GiveDirectly that I had received my first transfer from them. I was thankful to them for getting such a large amount of money that you have not really worked for is rare in the very country and world we are living in.

On receiving my first transfer, I spent part of it to buy two cows considering that having them as part of the things I possess and saving for the future. To me, these cows will reproduce and increase in their number so as to have many of them. I will be getting milk from them as well as selling to the nearest dairy shops to get an income. My family will also be getting a continuous supply of milk for their consumption and I will no longer is be buying from my fellow livestock keepers which was costly to me. I also bought some iron sheets to prepare as I source for, more financial support to build a new house and acquire enough materials to help me set up for the old house I am living in is not very much stable and in a bad state. In addition to buying all these, I paid school fees for my child to continue with his learning comfortable and without any hindrances. The rest of the transfer went to shopping for I bought enough food for my family and for the whole of this period since I got the money, food has not been a problem to me and to my family.
