Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was one cool afternoon when I had just return from the farm. At that time, I came from brushing and decided to have a little rest. A moment later, my little brother walk up to me and said Givedirectly money is coming so please go and check. With no hesitation, I went on the road where we normally receive network. I fortunately saw an alert on my phone. This alert was confirming a message of transfer from Givedirectly. I was super excited because it was my very first time to received such amount from organisation. I am greatful to GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Indeed there is a big difference in my life.I had to struggle hard by burning charcoal and cutting palm before getting money. With Givedirectly transfer now, I have minimised the struggle and purchase zinc. I would have done this but not as quick as Givedirectly help me to realized.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Considering our condition and the current struggle, I was able to purchase bundle of zinc and use the balance on my children tuition. This is why I am always happy for what Givedirectly did for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I received this cash transfer from GiveDirectly, I will use it to construct my residential building. My decision is based on the condition of the dwelling place we have presently. I have four children and we all sleep in one room of the family house that we are living in. The condition of the house is even more deplorable. At some point in time, when we have other relatives visiting us, it creates serious embarrassment to the extent that we all sleep in the same room. Therefore, my plan to have a decent and spacious dwelling place for my family would be realized when I emerge successful to benefit from Givedirectly transfer.
What is the happiest part of your day?
For the past three months up to now have been my happy time. Since I recovered from the sickness, it is with in this time I have really felt better in health. I am beginning to walk around in my farm land and supervise some of my farm activities. I am beginning to feel that, few months from now, I will get back on my feet and work hard for my family to survive. My other relatives have been doing very well in providing for me and my family and also my wife has been very supportive and encouraging to me. I am overwhelmed and filled with joy to be one of the potential beneficiaries of Givedirectly program today. I say to Givedirectly, you are the reason that I will raise again. My joy will be in fullness when I use your cash gift to build my house and move in it.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
For the past four years now, the lack of food supplies have been the major hardship I am going through. I have not been strong enough to make farm for the past four years. It was that time I recovered from a prolonged illness and the doctor advised me not to do physical hard work. I used to burn coal and make farm to keep my family. In our environment, we only survive on hard labour work ( unskilled). With this condition, I have become limited to earn even half of what could sustain my family. What we do now to keep the family moving on is, to invest the little we earn into small business just to get food. With the transfer, it will empower us to improve the business and also make a large farm to sustain us for some years.
