How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Life is now completely different in that I have my own land to cultivate food, and there's peace mind. Before, staying at our grandfather's land always brought feuds and fights with other relatives in the same place, especially quarrels over cultivation land during the rainy season.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well giving money directly that has enabled people to build iron sheet roofed houses, acquire livestock, land and household items. In addition, it provides phones that are used for communicating with relatives and friends. There's nothing it hasn't done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Second transfer was all spent to pay for land to settle in since we were depending on our grandfather's land.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is so relaxed and comfortable because I have secured a plot of land. I am happy because the cash transfer has enabled me acquire household items that I did not possess before. Previously, we were living like outcasts on this plot and we were isolated. I am glad that the cash transfer was sent at the right time when we were in solitude.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I recall it was at 4:00 AM when I received a mobile money message. Only for me to check my account to confirm if it was indeed true. I was overwhelmed with joy because GiveDirectly had answered my prayers bt sending me the cash transfer.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase a cow worth UGX 300000. I spent UGX 400000 on purchasing house hold items like a mattress, bedsheets, utensils and clothes. I also paid an installment of UGX 1000000 on a piece of land.
