How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am the sole provider of a family of four children. Life has been so challenging for the past one year without my husband. He is in jail. However, my life has improved alot ever since I received the cash transfers. I was able to clear all my debts and pay for the children's medical bills. Life would have been disastrous had I not received the cash transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to support the poor with cash transfers.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Prior to receiving this transfer, I used to live a low self esteem life because I did not have much in my household in terms household items. I could not associate with the rest of the community freely because even the clothes I wore were almost rags. My life is different now because I have managed to put my household in order by securing household items especially clothes, beddings, utensils, shoes among others. I can now associate with the rest of the people since I wear presentable clothes and I can also invite them to my beautiful home for visitations.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment GiveDirectly sent me my transfer, I became so happy because I have lived in harsh conditions. I have been providing for my household single handedly since my spouse is in prison. Therefore life has not been easy for me but the moment GD delivered their promise to me, I was so glad because deep down me I knew my suffering had come to an end.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on acquiring household items like bed, mattresses, utensils, clothes, shoes, chairs and table for me and the children since our household conditions were demeaning. I have also spent some money on buying food because I don't have enough to provide my family with. The remaining amount of money I'm planning to spent it on buying a cow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be to buy land. This land I will cultivate , plant crops for both consumption and other needs. What will be realised from cultivation, also will be sold inorder to raise money for educating them thus their future lives may improve.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is afternoon especially after lunch. Iam always engaged doing causaul labour inoder to have food on the table for my children. When they eat and get satisfied, Iam able to teach them how to count and write.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is poverty. My spouse is in prison for assaulting his mother and all the burden of managing the family lies on me yet I do not any have source of earning. The whole family is at a mess lacking food , clothing and whenever children fall sick I can not even afford treatment. This has much endangered thier lives and I fear death may easliy happen in my family.
